The least-seen of Mackendrick’s Ealing pictures, The Maggie tells an unusual story of a culture clash between the Old and New Worlds. Its title is the name of a decrepit Scottish vessel whose wily captain blackmails an American tycoon into using his ramshackle boat to move valuable furniture to an island mansion. 船长撒谎、固执、自私；小男孩愚忠于船长且有暴力倾向，为维护船长差点杀死人；想保护财产的资本家蠢笨无能，结尾竟然患上斯德哥摩症，主动放弃自己的财产。电影看着别扭，也许导演有所指，要的就这效果。
Bellabegwinnie那一段瞬间升华了，尤其是那个女孩对“我该嫁给谁”的选择。
